Reconstruction for Old Posterior Cruciate Ligament Injuries Using Gore-Tex Ligament Prosthesis



Abstract
A study was made of 13 cases of old ruptured posterior cruciate ligament in adult who had admitted and reconstructed using polytetrafluoroethylene (Gore-Tex) at Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Pusan National University Hospital, from January
1989 to
October 1991. The range of follow-up periods was from 13 to 39 months, mean 25 months.
@ES The results were as follows :
@EN 1. The highest incidence was between age of 31 and 50 years and male was aff3ected more frequently than female.
2. The main cause of injuries was traffic accident.
3. The most common mechanism of injury was dashboard injury.
4. To compare preoperative and postopeative condition, Lysholm knee score was determined for each patient. The average preoperative score was 62.7 points and average postoperative score was 86.9 points.
5. With Telos equipment in 90 degree of flexion, posterior laxity was determined for each patient. The average preoperative laxity was 11.2 mm and average postoperative laxity was k5.6 mm.
6. Postoperatively, the amount of posterior laxity of knee as determined by the Telos equipment was not related to patient¢¥s satisfaction.
